Approximately 6:45 PM in Hawaii, Oahu had lost its power according to the spokesman of Hawaiian Electric Co. However, it wasn't till two hours later when the entire islands of Oahu has lost its power due to outage in the generators also. In reference to many of the Informational Websites, power outage had left outage in island's population of 900,000 people and thousands of tourists including vacationing President-elect Barack Obama.

By 6 o'clock in the morning, about 113,000 customer's power has been retored, mostly on the west side of the island. However, it's not till later the remaining of the island's population will gain back their power.

Gov. Linda Lingle has said that the utility will be taking one of the generator to Obama, elected-president's rented beach house, but was informed that he has had already 3 generators in position.

The outage seem to be caused by the thunderstorm little after sun has set, but thunderstorm soon calmed, leaving the island under dark.

As for me, I was in Ala Moana Shopping Center working on my part-time job. Around 7 O'clock we had our power out, leaving most of our customers under ruckus. By 7:45, we had most of our customers leave after their manual check outs and our managements had finally decided to close down the place. By 8 o'clock the employees were informed that we are able to leave after cleaning up some of the mess. Although it was a unconvinient experience, it's one of the 'happenings' that it seems to me as I can share with my co-workers.

Currently, I'm at post by my cell phone since the restaurant has still not gained back its power and I was informed that it's not till later on that we will be opening up again.

By 8:30 am, Hawaiian Electric has restored over half of Oahu. approximately at 179,000 of their 295,000 customers.

We seem to pay one of the most highest pays in electricity bills yet seems as if we also have most unreliable electrical grid in the nation. It is understandable that we are not connected to rest of the nation-wide grid, meaning no back-up system. However, a grid more resilient to minor problems would be very nice..

Yea I lost power around 7:30ish and I was watching a Japanese Drama on the computer and all of a sudden my screen went dark. Good thing I was using a laptop and the whole episode was loaded already lol. It was pitch black and it was so funny because 30min after everything went dark some people started to play a bunch of fireworks ^^. Since there was nothing much to do I ended up playing my DS for a bit and then went to bed kinda early. I tried to read a book but holding a flashlight while reading got annoying. I saw a lot of lightning but I did not hear thunder.
I was wondering if any malls and such went out because I know Pearlridge has a backup generator and so I was assuming that Ala Moana had one too. However, it seems as if even those were not working and everything really did completely black out. There was a Zippy's that still had power tho and my friend said that it was really busy over there. Well it is good that you were able to make it home safely. And lol you were updating this from your phone I probably would have done the same thing cept I don't know if I can use my phone to update xanga. If I had the iphone I could but I only have the itouch and that requires actual internet.

actually i didn use my phone to update a blog. i woke up early in the morning. exactly an hour after the power has come back, i was up online on my computer hoping to keep everyone updated in the time being. well i headed to work this morning and well, the water was still not running at islands, which delayed our openings. So the restaurant later opened up at 4 pm. the company must've lost lots of money.

Today is the 20th Christmas in my life. This may not be as important in one point, but in the other hand, it's 2 decades of history. Looking back at last 19 to 20 years of my life or at least up to the point where I could recall, it really had been a long journey for me. From an early childhood to teen-days and now into the entrance of twenties, I can't even point out when my major change was throughout my life.

As I see the end of 08' close by, if there's anything that I made up my minds on, it's probably how to take care of myself. For last several years of my life, I lived with regrets thinking pondering my course of life. As immature as I was, perhaps all I wanted to do was to stay as a teen or even as a child all my life. However, with a realization as with my maturization, I came up with my new year's resolution.

It would perhaps be to take care of myself. That in fact, to take a full control of myself. I've been putting aside of things that I did not favor and wasted last 20 years of my life. So it would really be helpful if I could at least take control of managing the time and the effor that I put in things whether it's on the studies or working or even on exercises.

There are lots of things that I have in mind, but it seems like I'm having a little trouble with organizing thoughts at late night. Perhaps this is a good time to close.

As for my next entry, we'll hope that it's well organized entry rather than a rant/blunt.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Np bout everything. And yea you will probably do better next semester. The first year is usually kinda hard for freshies cuz everything is new so you have to adjust.

Your new year's resolution is a good one and I am glad our gonna try and stick to it. Everyone on the inside wishes to remain a child even if they wont admit it because it was a time in your life when you could be so carefree about things. But yes we do have to grow up and be responsible for our actions. However, we should still keep a little of our child like personality with us because that is what keeps life enjoyable and fun ^^.

    Anyways I hope your Christmas was a good one and that you got some things that you wanted. Soon I am gonna be leaving for my trip and the days seem to be getting shorter. I guess I better get as much fun out of the trip as I can cuz when I come back it is time for school and I am gonna have to start workin too lol ^^;

i hope you make the best out of this trip and have fun while spending your time there. And since we have our classes together whether you have gotten in the japanese class or not, I will hope to see you soon.. or eventually. :] thanx for the comments btw :)

So, today was the registration for 2009 Spring Semester for us, freshmens. I got the very last time which was 2pm of 2008, December 10th. Although i panicked and freaked out a bit, I am glad I was able to get all the classes that I planned to sign up for.

It was right after the last class of Japanese, so I hurried my brother to take me home to my laptop where I could register. As soon as i got to my computer, I soon found out that my computer was trying to work on its windows update. So w/o a choice, i ran downstairs onto my brother's computer. There were couple of episodes where i pressed on a different link and could have missed the time of registration. But I was able to get back to the add course screen by 1:59. So after plugging in all my classes, i pressed a button, but since there were all the other freshmens trying to sign up for classes, there were huge lags that was caused by heavy burden on the UH servers. So after about 20 minutes which was around 2:20-ish, i was able to find my next semester schedules up online.

So this next semester, I applied for 15 credits. And the classes consists of Chemistry 161, Chemistry 161 Lab, Japanese 102, Math 421, and Hawaiian Studies. Chemistry, Japanese and Math, they all have 4 credits respectively and Hawaiian studies w/ 3 credits. I'm hoping that this isn't a too much of a burden for me as i'm still a freshmen getting to know the whole college system and whatnot.

Hopefully my schedule wouldn't interfere with my working schedule, so i need to look out for that in the future sign ups. I hear lots of fellow students not getting their classes, but I can ensure you that there still are possibilities that you guys can override into the class as long as you get a contact with the professors and show up on the first day of the class in session. Tell professor that you would like to apply or override into the class, and they will tell you guys the next step to take.

Now that my classes are settled, i'm looking forward for my student career development advising. After taking survey, it pretty much tells you what your strength is and possible career or major. For full time students, it has the minimum pay of 20 dollars and i highly recommend to those who have not yet decided on their major or trying to find something else that you are more interested in.

So this is all for my entry :] good luck with you all on your finals.

Yea just tell me when you decide what to do with the site I would love to see it! ^^

Anyways I am glad that everything worked out and that you were able to get the classes that you wanted. I wish I could have gotten all the ones that I wanted -_-;. I would like to override but it was more a time conflict then a no more seats left thing. But so next year we have hawaiian studies together ^^. It is gonna be a long walk to the building. At least we can keep each other company on the journey lol. I think for you the only thing your gonna have to worry about is Chemistry and Math. Well actually your good in math you just have to get up for class :P.

i just found out that i did pretty bad on my final exams. so hopefully next semester will be much better. thanks for all the encouragements and also keepin up w/ me ^^

It's already been through a whole semester of college. Whether I have done well or not, it has come to the final week. Oh noes; the Finals. The classes that i thought would've been a cruise class, didn't really end up being the class of my thought and became ones that i struggle in.

Like in psychology, although it is pretty interesting, and easy to get through, i've noticed that once you fall behind, it'ss really hard to catch up. Chapters maybe a bit long, but as long as you follow up with daily readings, I believe it's much do-able. It's because of this class of which i could've finished and concentrate more on other classes, is holding me back at the moment.

Math. I highly recommend going to lecture classes. Although at first, everything seem a bit easy and not worth awhile, never judge too early. Through whole 4 mid-term exams, I was managed to do well on the first two. However, after not studying and being unattentive through 2nd half of the semester, failed to manage to get higher than a C - D grade. Uh-oh.. Hopefully it is still manageable to bring up my semester grade through Final Testings.

Japanese. Thanks to my teacher, it has been a pretty cruise class. Although i still haven't gotten down -Te and -Ta forms and such, her grading systems are awesome. I have oral/oral final/final exams coming up. This should be pretty interesting if not a cruise. Therefore, i'll continue to be in next following levels of japanese classes.

English. I haven't really gotten A's in any of my essays or assignments, but i would say her grading systems are pretty easy. Well if you are one of those people who are just dying to get an A, it may be a little bit harsh, but if you can settle for a B or anything lower than that, it's pretty awesome i should say. She jokes alot in class, so i think it was not too bad of a class to be in.

Overall, like any other classes, if you do your daily studyings, it's going to be a pretty cruise classes and if not, a failure on your forehead. Now it's time for me to go to school :] and.. also come up with schedules for the next semester. see you through my next entry!

For Psychology I had the same problem >< I figured that it wasn't gonna be too hard and that I could finish it fast but I ended up putting it off constantly. I am sure you are gonna pass it tho so don't worry d(-.^) And yea our Japanese teacher was really cool. I learned so much better from her than I did in my 3 years of trying to learn it from my teacher in high school. And having a 2 hour break before the class did help so I could study for the quizes lol. If you need help with te and ta form I can help you because I pretty much understand it, just ask me ok ^^. I thought it was really cool tho that are schedules were practically the same. Hanging out everyday was awesome and lots of fun ^^. Although you were evil a lot o(>.<o). Haha but I am gonna miss the hanging out. So we definately have to get the same Japanese class again next semester ok!

so my psychology, now i'm on my last chapter.. or 2nd to last.. idk.. although our last chapter was supposed to be around 17, i missed a class in the beginning of my classes, so i would have to pass chapter 5 also.. but i'm close.. so i am not worrying too much about it ^-^.. hopefully i would be able to pass by tomorrow.. or within this week.. :]
